Pro Enviro | Carbon reduction strategy

At Midland Paint and Powder Coaters Ltd, we are committed to the principals of continuous improvement in all areas of our production activities.  We have certification to Quality Management System to ISO 9001, Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management System to ISO 45001 standards.

To ensure effective management of our energy consumption and costs and reduce our carbon emission from our energy intensive processes, we have recently engaged the services of the energy engineering consultants, Pro Enviro Ltd to help us develop and implement our tailored Low Carbon process optimisation strategy.

With the support of Pro Enviro Ltd, we are carrying out micro metering of our energy intensive plant to map the flow of energy across the site.

The micro-metering exercise will accurately measure the exact level and pattern of energy consumption and will help identify systemic operational inefficiencies. The outcome of the metering exercise will also help us develop, implement and effectively monitor our tailored Low Carbon process optimisation strategy.

Through this Low Carbon process optimisation strategy, we could assess the suitability, cost and the expected period of payback on required investment for several appropriate Low Carbon process optimisation technologies.

These include installation of appropriately sized inhouse solar generation, application of inverter drive technology on our paint and powder booths and their associated extraction system, and a Power Factor Correction (PFC) system to improve control of our processes resulting in reducing energy consumption, costs and CO2 emission.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement in how we use energy and natural resources, we intend to integrate the outcome of this Low Carbon strategy in our Environmental Management System – ISO14001 to effectively monitor the implementation and accurately measure the annual reduction in energy consumption and CO2 emission.
