1. Determine the design life:

Choosing the right durability is a question of cost as rectification can be expensive if coatings fail. Midland Paint & Powder Coaters offer many options of coating systems and therefore options on investment.

With test data and track record the durability of each system can be given in terms of years which enable a more accurate coating specification for both Powder and Wet Paint systems.

2. Identify the environment:

Midland Paint & Powder Coaters use the industry standard key classifications.

C1 – Internal heated buildings with clean atmospheres.

C2 – Rural areas with low level pollution and internal unheated buildings where condensation may occur.

C3 – Urban and industrial atmospheres with moderate sulphur dioxide pollution and areas with low level salinity. Internal process rooms with high humidity with some air pollution.

C4 – Industrial and coastal areas with moderate salinity, chemical plants, swimming pools, coastal ship and boatyards.

C5-M (marine) – Coastal areas with high levels of salinity, internal buildings or areas with almost permanent condensation and high pollution.

C5-I (Industrial) – Industrial areas with high humidity and aggressive atmospheres, internal buildings or areas with almost permanent condensation and high pollution.
